The main alternative, Claude Team from Anthropic, has the same prices and the same two-seat minimum, and only gives you Claude. So a small team that wants both pays twice per person. The cheaper ChatGPT Business alternative for small teams is a multi-model workspace that puts GPT, Claude and Gemini behind one seat.

What does a ChatGPT Business alternative cost for a team of three or five?

Teams that can't agree on one model often end up paying for both: one person drafts in Claude, another does analysis in ChatGPT. Here's the math, using list prices as of September 2026:

A three-person team that currently pays for both saves about 900 a year on all-Plus seats. Even against ChatGPT Business alone, the all-Plus team pays about 180 a year less, and gets Claude and Gemini on top.

The honest caveat: this compares seat prices, not usage. ChatGPT Business and Claude Team meter usage in their own ways, and Zemith gives each seat a monthly credit allowance (1.5 million credits on Plus, 3 million on Professional). Heavy users of expensive features spend credits faster. A deep research report, for example, costs 100,000 credits, so a Plus seat that did nothing else could run 15 a month. If someone runs out, you can buy a top-up ($10 for 800,000 credits).

Is ChatGPT Business worth it for a small team?

It's worth it if your team is happy with OpenAI's models and needs what the plan adds on the admin side: SAML SSO, admin controls, compliance reports and OpenAI's connectors. Business also offers Codex seats for developers.

It's harder to justify when:

• Half the team prefers Claude. You'll end up expensing Claude Pro or Claude Team on top, which doubles the per-person cost.
• You're two or three people. The two-seat minimum is fine, but $25 a seat monthly adds up quickly when most of the use is drafting, research and the occasional deck.
• Your deliverables are files. Proposals, client decks and budget sheets are the actual output of a small agency. You want those as real .docx, .pptx and .xlsx files, whatever model wrote them.

Claude Team has the mirror image of the same problem: excellent writing and Claude Code included, but no GPT and no Gemini, and no image or video generation.

A real workflow: one client proposal, three people, one chat

Here's how a three-person agency could run a new-business pitch in Zemith without anyone switching apps:

1. The account lead opens a chat, shares it with the strategist and the designer, and pastes the client's brief.
2. The strategist asks Gemini 3.1 Pro to search the web for the client's competitors and recent news, with cited sources. For a deeper dive, they run deep research, approve the plan it proposes, and come back to a cited report.

When you should pick something else

• You need SSO or compliance reports. ChatGPT Business and Claude Team offer these. Zemith doesn't make those claims.
• Your developers live in a coding agent. Claude Team includes Claude Code in every seat, and ChatGPT Business offers Codex seats. Zemith's sandbox runs code, but it isn't a coding agent in your repo.

ChatGPT Business pricing pages on chatgpt.com and openai.com, and OpenAI's help center, returned "403 Forbidden" to automated access, so ChatGPT Business prices and the two-seat minimum come from the search-indexed text of OpenAI's help article and CloudZero's ChatGPT pricing guide (updated September 4, 2026). Google's pricing page didn't render prices without a seat count, so Workspace prices come from Email Vendor Selection's Google Workspace pricing guide. Zemith's seat prices, credit allowances, roles, invites and model tiers were checked in Zemith's code. We compared published list prices and documentation; we didn't benchmark output quality.
