Nano Banana is the better pick for product photos that must match the real item; Midjourney wins on styled mood shots. Prices, limits and a cheaper setup.
For product photos that have to match the item you actually ship, Nano Banana (Google's Gemini image models) is the better pick in 2026. Google documents it as taking several photos of your real product as high-fidelity references (up to 6 on Nano Banana Pro, up to 10 on Nano Banana 2) and rendering legible text, which matters for labels and packaging. Midjourney is still the stronger tool for styled, moody campaign images where the look matters more than the exact label. Most online sellers need the first job every week and the second a few times a year.
If that's you, the cheapest way to act on it is Zemith Plus at **15.99 a month**. It puts Nano Banana Pro and Nano Banana 2 next to GPT Image 2, Flux 2 and Seedream in Creative Studio, along with the clean-up tools a product shot needs: background removal, background replacement, object removal and upscaling. That's less than Midjourney's 30 Standard plan, and you also get Claude, GPT and Gemini chat for writing the listing copy.
10, 30, 60 or 120 a month as of October 2026, with no free trial. Only Pro and Mega include Stealth mode, and companies earning over $1M a year must be on Pro or Mega. What each option offers for product work, as of October 1, 2026 (prices in USD per month):

Nano Banana, for now. A product photo fails the moment the bottle shape, cap colour or label text drifts from what the customer receives. Google describes Nano Banana Pro as including "up to 6 images of objects with high-fidelity" in the final image, and Nano Banana 2 up to 10. Shoot your product from the front, side and top on a plain surface, upload all of them, and ask for the scene you want. More angles give the model more to hold on to.
Midjourney closed part of the gap this year. Its V8.2 Edit Model, in public testing since August 27, 2026, edits an image from written instructions, blends up to 4 image references, and repaints or extends parts of the frame. On the older V7 model you can still use Omni Reference to carry an object into a new scene. Both are real options for product work now, not just for illustration.
The difference that remains is focus. Midjourney's strength is its aesthetic: lighting, mood and composition that look art-directed. That's ideal for a hero banner or a lookbook. For a catalogue of forty SKUs that each need a clean, accurate lifestyle shot, you want the model that follows instructions and keeps details, then plain tools to tidy the result.
Whichever you use, check every output against the real product before it goes live. Any image model can quietly change a label, add a seam or bend a logo, and in ecommerce that's a returns problem, not a style choice.
Only if the look is the product. As of October 2026, Midjourney's Basic plan is 10 a month with about 3.3 hours of fast generation and no Relax mode. Standard at 30 adds unlimited Relax image generation, which is where most sellers end up. There's no free trial, so you can't check whether it handles your packaging before paying.
Two plan rules catch businesses out. Images on Basic and Standard are public in the Midjourney gallery unless you pay for Pro (60) or Mega (120), which add Stealth mode. And Midjourney's terms require companies with more than 1M in gross annual revenue to be on Pro or Mega. A growing brand that wants its unreleased products kept private is effectively looking at 60 a month.
If you sell fashion, fragrance or anything bought on mood, that can be money well spent. If you sell kitchenware, supplements or phone cases, you'll mostly be paying for a style you'll tone down.
You can, and for a handful of shots it's the cheapest route: Google lists image generation and editing on the free plan, and Google AI Pro ($19.99 a month) raises the limits. Two things push sellers elsewhere once they do this every week.
First, the Gemini app is a chat, not a production tool. Fixes happen by asking again in the conversation, and each new prompt can change something you didn't want changed. A one-click background remover or upscaler only touches what it's meant to. Second, you get one model family. When Nano Banana struggles with a reflective surface or a particular style, you can't try GPT Image 2 or Flux 2 on the same reference photos without leaving for another subscription.
Zemith runs on credits, and Creative Studio quotes the cost before you generate. Plus includes 1.5 million credits a month. Listed costs per image, from Zemith's model catalogue as of October 2026:
Here's a typical finished shot for a product listing:
That's about 27,600 credits per finished image, or roughly 54 finished shots a month on Plus. Swap in Nano Banana Pro for the hero image and that one costs about 40,200 credits. Need more? Top-ups start at $10 for 800,000 credits.
Video is there too, but it's priced per second. Veo 3.1 Fast lists at 24,000 credits per second, so an 8-second product clip uses 192,000 credits, about an eighth of a month's Plus allowance. Fine for a launch, not for daily posting.
These numbers are the listed starting costs. Adding several reference images to a Nano Banana edit can add a little, and Zemith shows the exact quote before you generate.
The real gain is that the whole job stays in one place. You generate the scene, remove the stray object, swap the background for a seasonal one, upscale, and then go to chat and ask Claude or GPT to write the product description and alt text from the same photo. One bill instead of an image subscription, an editing app and a chat subscription.
You also stop betting on one model. Try the same reference photos on Nano Banana 2 and Flux 2 Pro, keep the better one, and move on. If you later want to chain the steps, the workflow canvas (web only) lets you build background removal, scene generation and upscale into a reusable flow. For more on the image side, see the AI image generator overview and Zemith for marketers. If you just need a quick cut-out, the free background remover is a good place to start.
We read Google's Gemini API image generation docs and Google AI plans page, Midjourney's V8.2 Edit Model announcement, and Zemith's own model catalogue and plan pricing on October 1, 2026. Midjourney's documentation site blocked automated access that day, so its plan prices, fast hours, Stealth mode and revenue rule come from eesel AI's Midjourney pricing guide (last edited June 5, 2026). We didn't run a side-by-side image test, so this compares documented capabilities and prices, not output quality on your product.
For product photos, accuracy beats style most days, and that points to Nano Banana. Midjourney earns its price when the image is the brand. If you want Nano Banana Pro and Nano Banana 2 plus GPT Image 2, Flux 2, background removal and upscaling for less than Midjourney Standard, start with Zemith Plus. You can read our earlier Nano Banana Pro overview for background on the model.
