You can't share one ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro login, and neither has a family plan. Here's how to give everyone their own seat for $15.99 each.
To share ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro with family, don't share the login. As of October 2026 we found no family plan for either one, and Anthropic's consumer terms say you may not share your account login or make your account available to anyone else. The workable options are separate accounts for everyone, a two-seat team plan, or one workspace where you pay for a seat per person and each person keeps their own login, chats and credits.
The third option is the cheap one if people in your house want both GPT and Claude. Zemith's workspace seats cost $15.99 per person per month on Plus, so two people pay $31.98 where two people with ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro each would pay about $80. The rest of this post covers what each option costs, why a shared login goes wrong, and how to set up the seats.
For Claude, the answer is written down. Section 2 of Anthropic's consumer terms says: "You may not share your Account login information, Anthropic API key, or Account credentials with anyone else." Claude's pricing page lists Free, Pro, Max and Team plans, and no family plan.
For ChatGPT, we found no family plan either. OpenAI's own community forum has open requests for one, including one from people who want four household members on one Plus subscription. OpenAI's terms page blocked our automated check, so read the current terms yourself before you share a ChatGPT login.
Even where nobody objects, a shared login is awkward:
| Option | Price (US, as of October 2026) | Each person gets | Catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Everyone buys their own | ChatGPT Plus about $20, Claude Pro $20 or $17 annual | Their own account | Two companies, two bills per person |
| ChatGPT Business or Claude Team | $25 per seat monthly, $20 annual, minimum 2 seats | Own login, one vendor's models | Only one vendor per plan, built for companies |
| Google AI Plus or Pro | Check the US price on Google's plans page | Gemini through Google's family sharing, up to five others | Gemini only |
| Zemith workspace seats | Plus $15.99 per seat monthly, $179.88 yearly; Professional $29.99 monthly | Own login, chats and credits, GPT and Claude and more | Seats are bought on the web, no admin controls like SSO |
The ChatGPT Plus price is a third-party figure (layer3labs, October 1, 2026); OpenAI's pricing page localizes prices and blocked our check. The Business and Team prices come from OpenAI's Business billing article and Claude's pricing page. Our earlier post on ChatGPT Business alternatives for small teams goes deeper on the team plans.
If your household already lives in Google's world and Gemini is enough, Google's family sharing is the one first-party way to share an AI plan. If anyone wants Claude or GPT, it won't cover them.
Here are yearly totals at list prices, billed monthly except where the last column says yearly, for two people and four people who each want both ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro.
| People | ChatGPT Plus each | Claude Pro each | Both, each | Zemith Plus seats, monthly billing | Zemith Plus seats, yearly plan |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | $480 | $480 | $960 | $383.76 | $359.76 |
| 4 | $960 | $960 | $1,920 | $767.52 | $719.52 |
The yearly Zemith plan is $179.88 per seat ($14.99 a month). Two people save about $600 a year over buying both subscriptions for each person, and four people save about $1,200. The comparison isn't one to one. A Zemith Plus seat gives you GPT 6 Luna and Claude 5.5 Sonnet, not the full ChatGPT app or Anthropic's own Claude app with its limits, and the top models (GPT 6.1 Sol, Claude 5.5 Opus, Gemini 4 Argon) need a Professional seat at $29.99 a month. For homework, writing, planning and everyday questions, most people won't miss the difference.
Zemith workspaces are built for teams, but nothing stops a household from using one. The owner pays, and each person you add gets their own credit allowance and sees only their own chats. You need a Plus or Professional plan yourself, and you set the seats up on the web.
Each seat has its own credits: 1.5 million a month on Plus, so one person's image session doesn't drain another person's allowance. Seats are billed to the workspace payment method, and you can cancel the seat subscription from the same tab. If someone leaves, removing them takes their plan and credits away immediately, and the paid seat stays with the workspace so you can give it to someone else.
Not through the member list. The members screen shows names, roles and plans. In Zemith's access rules (checked October 2026), a chat inside a workspace can be read by the person who started it and by anyone they explicitly invite to that chat, not by the workspace owner. That's an access rule, not a privacy certification, so keep truly sensitive material out of any online chat tool.
A shared plan goes wrong over money and leavers, not technology. Settle these in five minutes:
Don't share one login. Give each person an account of their own, and if two or more people want both GPT and Claude, a Zemith workspace is the cheapest way to do it: $15.99 per person on Plus, one bill, separate chats. Keep ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro for the one person who truly needs the vendor's own app.
We compared published pricing and documentation in October 2026: Anthropic's consumer terms and Claude's pricing page, OpenAI's Business billing article and community forum, Google's AI plans page, and Zemith's seat flow, plan prices and access rules in its source code. OpenAI's pricing and terms pages blocked automated checks, so the ChatGPT Plus price is a third-party figure and we couldn't read OpenAI's terms.
