An Airtable AI credits alternative: extra packs cost $20 per 10,000, so run Claude, GPT or Gemini on your bases through Airtable's own MCP server instead.
When your Airtable AI credits run out, you have three options: buy an add-on pack (from $20 a month for 10,000 credits), wait for the pool to reset at the start of your next billing cycle, or move the heavy AI work to an outside assistant that reads and writes your base through Airtable's MCP server. Airtable says the MCP integration is included in every plan with no additional charges, and it isn't on Airtable's list of things that use AI credits. So the best Airtable AI credits alternative is to keep Airtable's built-in AI for the small automatic jobs and do the expensive work, such as analyzing documents and researching on the web, somewhere else.
Zemith is a good place for that work. Zemith Plus is $15.99 a month per person and includes an Airtable plugin built on Airtable's hosted MCP server. From one chat, Claude, GPT, Gemini or Grok can search your bases, read records, count and group them, then create or update records once you approve each change. The AI runs on Zemith's credits, so your Airtable pool is left for the Field Agents that need it.
20 a month per 10,000 (or 200 a year). Airtable's own examples price document analysis at about 200 credits, web search at 10 and categorizing feedback at about 1.15.99 a month, or 179.88 a year) puts Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok on that connection, plus web search, file analysis and other plugins, with every write shown for approval first.Prices in USD as of October 9, 2026.

Usually the expensive jobs, not the cheap ones. Airtable's billing page gives example costs: around 1 credit to categorize a piece of feedback, 10 credits for a web search, 10 for an Omni question and around 200 to analyze a document. Building apps and agents with Omni is free, and so is creating or updating records.
So a Team workspace with three billable collaborators has a 45,000-credit pool. That's tens of thousands of categorizations, but only about 225 document analyses, shared by everyone. If you set up a Field Agent that reads an attached contract, invoice or CV on every new record, that's where the month goes. Included credits expire at the end of the month, and Airtable emails you when the workspace passes 75% of its limit.
For small top-ups, yes. If you run out a few days early on a busy month, a 10,000-credit pack at $20 is simple and keeps every automation in place.
It gets expensive when you're regularly short. A 20,000-credit pack is 40 a month, or 400 a year. At add-on prices, each document analysis costs about 0.40 (200 credits at 20 per 10,000) and each web search about $0.02. If most of what you buy goes on document analysis and research, you're paying a premium for work any capable model can do, and you only get Airtable's built-in AI for it.
Compare that with one person on Zemith Plus for 179.88 a year. Zemith's credits come from the model you pick, priced per 100 tokens. A ten-page PDF is roughly 8,000 tokens to read. On Claude 5.5 Sonnet (46 credits per 100 input tokens, 226 per 100 output) reading it and writing a 600-token summary comes to about 5,000 credits. On GPT 6 Luna (3 and 12) it's roughly 300. Plus includes 1.5 million credits a month. Each read and write to Airtable adds a little on top, and a web search is 400 credits, but it's a different scale from paying 0.40 a document.
Yes. Airtable runs a hosted MCP server on all plans, and its support page names Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT and Cursor as clients. It can search and analyze data, create and update records, and create bases. Airtable's integration page lists the Claude connector on Claude's Free and paid plans.
So if Claude alone is enough, start with Claude Free and the Airtable connector, and move to Claude Pro at $20 when you hit Free's usage limits. That's an honest, cheap answer.
Zemith makes more sense when you want more than one model working on the same base, or Airtable is one of several tools your team uses. It costs less than Claude Pro, and the same subscription covers GPT, Gemini and Grok and the Notion, Linear and Microsoft 365 plugins.
The pool stays for what only Airtable can do. Field Agents that react to new records keep running on Airtable credits. The document reading, research and bulk cleanup move to Zemith and stop competing for the same pool.
You see every change before it lands. Zemith's Airtable plugin reads bases, schemas and records without asking. Creating records, updating records, adding fields and commenting each show an approval first, and you can set those everyday actions to Always allow. Deleting records or tables and changing an existing field always ask.
Pick the model per job. Use GPT 6 Luna for cheap classification, Claude 5.5 Sonnet for careful writing, and Gemini 3.1 Pro when you want a second opinion, all in the same chat on the same base.
It reaches the rest of your stack. The same plan includes the Notion and Linear plugins and Microsoft 365 (Outlook, OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint). See how plugins work on Zemith's agent page, and if your docs live in Notion, read our Notion AI alternative for Plus plan teams.
Say your ops team keeps vendor contracts in an Airtable base and wants each record summarized and tagged by risk.
Airtable can't undo record updates through MCP, so check the approval card before you approve a large batch. Airtable's MCP server also creates at most 10 records per request, so a large import runs as several writes.
If you run the same check every week, Zemith Professional ($29.99 a month) can schedule it as a Cloud task with the Airtable plugin attached.
On October 9, 2026, we checked Airtable's AI credit allowances, examples and add-on prices on its AI billing page, Team pricing on airtable.com/pricing (which lists yearly billing), MCP plans, clients and limits on Airtable's MCP support page, and Claude plan support on Airtable's Claude page. Claude prices come from claude.com/pricing. Zemith's Airtable tools, approval rules, model credit rates and plan requirements were checked in Zemith's code. Credit estimates use published per-token rates; we didn't benchmark output quality.
If your team keeps running out of Airtable AI credits, don't keep buying 20 packs for document analysis and research. Give the person doing that work Zemith Plus at 15.99 a month: Claude, GPT and Gemini work on your bases through Airtable's own MCP server, every write is shown for approval, and your Airtable pool goes back to the Field Agents that need it. If you only want Claude, try Claude's free plan with Airtable's connector first.
