Gamma Alternative for Consultants Who Deliver in PowerPoint

Gamma exports PPTX, but consultants often need decks built on the client's template from real data. Here's how Gamma compares and a $15.99 alternative.

Kevin·

The best Gamma alternative for consultants depends on where the deck ends up. Gamma can export to PowerPoint on every plan and can import a .pptx, so it's fine for a quick internal deck. If the client expects a PowerPoint file on their template, built from your numbers and sent with a memo or a model, a tool that writes the .pptx directly is the better fit. Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint works if you already pay for Microsoft 365. If you want research, data analysis and the deck in one place, use a chat assistant that produces real Office files.

That last option is what Zemith does. Zemith Plus costs $15.99 a month and lets you attach your client's template and a spreadsheet to a chat, then ask for the deck. You get an editable .pptx back in the chat's Files panel, and the same chat can also return the Excel workbook behind the charts and a Word memo. You pick the model for each step (GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok and others), and a cited deep research report runs in the same app when you need the background first.

TL;DR

  • As of September 2026, Gamma exports to PowerPoint on all plans, including Free (with a "Made with Gamma" badge). Plus is about $12/month billed monthly and removes the badge.
  • Gamma's own help center says some styling (rounded table corners, gradient headings, frosted backgrounds) doesn't carry over exactly to PowerPoint.
  • Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint comes with Microsoft 365 Personal (9.99/month) and Premium (19.99/month), with usage limits that vary by plan.
  • Zemith Plus ($15.99/month) builds the .pptx in a sandbox, can start from a template you upload, and makes the Excel and Word files in the same chat.
  • Stick with Gamma if your decks are mostly shared as web links, or if visual polish matters more than matching a client template.

Does Gamma export to PowerPoint well enough for client work?

For a lot of decks, yes. Export is on every plan, tables stay editable, speaker notes come along and fonts are embedded, according to Gamma's help center. The same article lists what doesn't: PowerPoint can't do rounded table corners, gradient headings may turn into a single color, and frosted backgrounds use a fallback style.

The real friction for consultants is elsewhere. Gamma thinks in cards, not slides, and the design you see in the browser is Gamma's. A theme imported from your firm's .pptx takes the colors, fonts and logo. It doesn't turn Gamma into your slide master. If a partner opens the file and every slide needs nudging back onto the grid, the time you saved generating it goes into cleanup.

So the question isn't "can it export". It's "whose file is this". If the client or your firm owns the look, you want the tool to work in their .pptx.

What's the best Gamma alternative for consultants who work from data?

If the deck is the last step of a piece of analysis, pick a tool that can do the analysis too. Gamma, Beautiful.ai and Pitch are presentation editors: they make the slides look good, but the numbers come from somewhere else. You still do the pivot tables, the market sizing and the source list in another app, then paste results in.

Zemith runs the whole chain in one chat. The file tools run in a cloud sandbox with Python, Node and LibreOffice, so the assistant can open your CSV or Excel file, calculate what you asked, draw the charts and write them into the deck. The deck is made with a presentation library that places real PowerPoint text boxes, shapes, tables and charts, so what you open in PowerPoint is editable, not a picture of a slide. When you attach a template, it reads the existing layouts and fills them instead of inventing a new look.

This is what we'd recommend for a consultant or analyst who sends PowerPoint to clients. The AI presentation maker page covers the deck side in more detail, and Zemith for consultants covers the rest of the job.

What does that look like on a real engagement?

Say you're wrapping up a pricing review for a mid-size retailer. You have their brand template, a sales export and a week of notes.

  1. Start a new chat on Zemith Plus and attach client-template.pptx and sales-2026.xlsx. Pick a model you trust with analysis.
  2. Ask for the work in one message:

Using the attached template, build a 10-slide steering committee deck. Slide 2 is a one-line answer: which three product lines to reprice. Use the sales data to chart revenue and margin by product line for the last four quarters. Keep the template's fonts and colors, one idea per slide, and put the method on the last slide.

  3. Zemith analyses the spreadsheet in the sandbox, builds the charts and returns pricing-review.pptx in the Files panel, where you can preview it. Ask it to save the cleaned data as an Excel file too, so the client can check the numbers.
  4. Fix what you'd fix with a junior: "Slide 5 is too dense, split it in two" or "rewrite the headlines as full-sentence takeaways". Zemith updates the file and returns it.
  5. Ask for a two-page Word memo summarizing the recommendation. It goes in the same Files panel.

If you connect the Microsoft PowerPoint plugin, Zemith can also save the finished deck to your OneDrive. Saving a new deck asks for your approval first (you can choose "Always allow" for that), and replacing an existing deck always asks.

When the engagement needs market background first, run deep research in the same app. It proposes a plan, waits for you to approve it, and writes a cited report you can turn into slides. A deep research run uses 100,000 credits, and Plus includes 1.5 million a month.

Is Copilot in PowerPoint a better Gamma alternative?

If you already pay for Microsoft 365, try Copilot first. It lives inside PowerPoint, so the output is native and it works on the file you have open. Microsoft includes it on Personal (9.99/month) and Premium (19.99/month), with usage limits that differ by plan, and business plans can add the Microsoft 365 Copilot add-on.

Zemith is the better pick when you want to choose the model for the job, pull research and data work into the same conversation, or use the same subscription for other things (images, voice, notes). It isn't a PowerPoint add-in: you work in Zemith's chat and open the file in PowerPoint afterwards. We compare the two directly on the Zemith vs Microsoft Copilot page.

When should you stay with Gamma?

  • Your decks are shared as links. Gamma's web presentations, custom domains and viewer analytics (on Pro) are built for that, and Zemith doesn't do it.
  • Design is the deliverable. For a pitch where the look matters more than matching a template, Gamma or Beautiful.ai give you more visual control and a real slide editor. Zemith has no drag-and-drop slide editor; you change slides by asking, or finish in PowerPoint.
  • You make many short decks from scratch. Gamma's card generation is quick, and Plus is cheaper than Zemith Plus if slides are all you need.

Zemith's file tools need a paid plan and a tool-capable model. The Free plan is chat only.

How we compared

We read each vendor's pricing page and help documentation on September 29, 2026. Gamma's pricing page blocked automated access that day, so its prices come from the two third-party summaries linked above; its export and import behavior comes from Gamma's own help center. Zemith's capabilities come from its product code and pricing page on the same day. We didn't run timed or quality benchmarks.

The bottom line

Gamma is a good presentation tool, and its PowerPoint export is better than its reputation. But consultants usually need more than slides: the client's template, numbers you can defend, and a memo or model alongside the deck. Zemith Plus at $15.99 a month gives you all of that in one chat, as editable Office files. If your work ends in a PowerPoint file sent to a client, that's the alternative we'd pick.
