A ComfyUI alternative for Mac and no-GPU setups: Comfy Cloud keeps the nodes, Zemith's browser canvas chains image and video steps from $15.99 a month.
If you want to build image and video pipelines out of connected nodes but your Mac can't run ComfyUI well, you have two real choices. The first is hosted ComfyUI: Comfy Cloud starts at $20 a month and keeps the node graph, custom nodes and (from the Creator plan) your own LoRAs. The second is a simpler hosted node canvas that runs in the browser with no setup and no custom nodes. ComfyUI's own documentation lists Apple Silicon (M1 to M4) with Metal acceleration as supported and doesn't list Intel Macs, so "no GPU" mostly means an Intel Mac, an old laptop or a machine that is too slow to wait on.
If the second option sounds right, that's what Zemith's workflow canvas is, and we'd point you to it. Zemith Plus is $15.99 a month ($179.88 a year). On the web you chain a Prompt, an LLM, text to image, background removal, replacement or removal of objects, generative fill, upscaling and video generation as nodes, with the same image and video models as Creative Studio. Nothing installs, so a MacBook Air, an Intel Mac or a Chromebook all work the same. The same plan also gives you Claude, Gemini and GPT chat, so the prompts get written in the same place.
--cpu mode that is slower (docs.comfy.org, October 2026).Prices as of October 23, 2026, in US dollars, from each vendor's page:
| Price | What runs the models | Custom nodes and own LoRAs | Video | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zemith Plus | $15.99/mo or $179.88/yr | Zemith's cloud, in your browser | No | Yes, Veo 3.1, Kling, Wan, Grok Imagine, Seedance 2.5 |
| Comfy Cloud Standard | $20/mo or $16/mo yearly | Comfy's cloud GPUs | Popular custom nodes, no own LoRAs | Yes, runs up to 30 minutes |
| Comfy Cloud Creator | $35/mo or $28/mo yearly | Comfy's cloud GPUs | Popular custom nodes, import models and LoRAs | Yes |
| RunComfy | Pay as you go, optional Pro $19.99/mo yearly | Rented GPUs | Saved ComfyUI environments | Depends on your workflow |
| ComfyUI on your Mac | Free | Your Apple Silicon chip | Yes | Depends on your chip |
Sources: Comfy Cloud pricing, RunComfy pricing and the ComfyUI system requirements. Zemith prices are on the pricing page. RunComfy charges per GPU use at standard rates, so there is no monthly figure to compare, and its Pro tier adds a $10 monthly credit and discounts GPU rates by 20% or more.
On Apple Silicon, yes. The ComfyUI docs list macOS on M-series chips with Metal acceleration through PyTorch, and they don't mention Intel Macs. The docs also don't give a minimum amount of memory or disk space, so read the install guide before you download multi-gigabyte models. A CPU-only mode exists (--cpu) and the docs call it slower.
That makes the honest answer depend on your machine. An M-series MacBook can run ComfyUI for stills if you are willing to tune it. An Intel Mac, or any laptop where a single image takes minutes, is the case where a hosted option earns its price.
Choose Comfy Cloud, not Zemith, when your workflow already exists as a ComfyUI graph. Comfy Cloud runs the real thing: a library of 900+ preinstalled models, support for many popular custom nodes, up to 100 queued workflows, and on Creator you can import models and LoRAs from sites such as CivitAI or Hugging Face. If you follow community tutorials, ControlNet setups or character LoRAs, that matters, and a simpler canvas can't copy it.
Pay-as-you-go RunComfy suits the other pattern: you open ComfyUI a few evenings a month and don't want a subscription. Its pay-as-you-go tier has no monthly fee, and purchased funds expire after 365 days.
You can build repeatable image and video pipelines out of plain steps. The step menu in the canvas has Prompt, Import, Text to image, Image editor, Remove background, Replace background, Remove object, Replace object, Upscale, Generative fill, Video and LLM, plus a Switch step that lets an AI pick which of your reference images to use, and an Output step. A Motion step for code-built motion graphics needs Professional ($29.99 a month). Workflows save as you go, so you reopen one and rerun it with a new prompt or a new photo.
The model steps show their credit cost, so you see the price before you press Run. Here is a product-photo pipeline priced from Zemith's catalog (October 23, 2026), against the 1.5M credits that Plus includes each month:
| Pipeline | Steps and credits | Per run | Runs a month on Plus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Image, cutout, upscale | Flux 2 Pro 6,900 + Remove background 9,300 + Clarity Pro upscaler 5,600 | 21,800 | about 68 |
| Same with Nano Banana 2 | 12,700 + 9,300 + 5,600 | 27,600 | about 54 |
| Add a 6-second clip | 21,800 + Veo 3.1 Fast at 24,000 a second for 6 seconds | about 165,800 | about 9 |
Video is priced per second and the final quote depends on resolution, so treat the third row as an estimate. Credits are shared with your chat use, and top-ups are $10 for 800,000 credits.
A practical flow for a designer or seller with a stack of product shots:
For one-off jobs you don't need a canvas at all: the free background remover and AI image upscaler do a single step. The canvas is for the repeated job.
A lot of flexibility. Zemith's canvas has a fixed set of steps. There are no custom nodes, you can't load your own checkpoints or LoRAs, and you can't wire up ControlNet, samplers or schedulers by hand. Each step also has its own Run button, so you press Run down the chain; there is no single button that executes the whole graph. The canvas is web only, so it is not on iOS or Android.
What you get in return is no setup, no GPU and no driver problems, plus the rest of Zemith on the same bill: multi-model chat to write prompts and captions, web search, and Creative Studio for one-off images. If you already compare image models, our Midjourney vs Nano Banana for product photos comparison covers the image models you can pick for product photos.
Pick by the work, not the logo:
We compared published pricing and documentation on October 23, 2026: Comfy Cloud and RunComfy pricing pages, the ComfyUI system requirements, and Zemith's workflow canvas and model catalog in its code. We did not run a speed or quality test across these tools, so we make no claim about how fast or good any of them is.
ComfyUI is still the most powerful way to build image pipelines, and Comfy Cloud is the closest hosted copy if you need its nodes or LoRAs. If what you actually need is a repeatable chain of image and video steps without a GPU, Zemith Plus at $15.99 a month does that in a browser and adds chat and video to the same bill.
