Julius AI Plus is $35 a month for 250 messages. A $15.99 alternative for CSV and Excel analysis with charts and real .xlsx files, and when Julius still wins.
A good Julius AI alternative for CSV and Excel analysis is any assistant that runs real Python on your uploaded file, draws the charts and hands back a spreadsheet, without Julius's 35 a month price or its 250-message cap on Plus. ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro (Anthropic) both do this for 20 a month, but each gives you only its own company's models. If you want several top models for the analysis, plus the finished Excel file and a write-up in the same chat, use a multi-model assistant with a code sandbox. Stay on Julius if you need live database connectors.
That multi-model option is Zemith. Zemith Plus costs $15.99 a month and runs your analysis in a cloud sandbox with Python, pandas and matplotlib. Attach a CSV or .xlsx file, ask your question in plain words, and get the numbers, the charts and a cleaned .xlsx back in the chat's Files panel. You choose the model for each step (Claude, Gemini, Grok and others), and the same plan covers web search, deep research, Word and PowerPoint files and image generation.
35/month (about 29.16/month billed yearly) with 250 messages a month, and Pro is $45/month with unlimited messages and live database connectors.Prices and limits as of October 2026, in US dollars:
| Price | Usage limit | Models | Data sources | Spreadsheet output | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zemith Plus | 15.99/mo or 179.88/yr | 1.5M credits a month, metered by tokens and sandbox time | Claude, Gemini, Grok, Kimi, Mistral and more; switch mid-chat | File upload (CSV, .xlsx, up to 20 MB each); Excel files in OneDrive via the Microsoft Excel plugin | Real .xlsx, CSV and chart images in the Files panel |
| Julius AI Plus | 35/mo, about 29.16/mo yearly | 250 messages a month | "Plus models" (Julius doesn't name them on the plan) | File uploads and Google Sheets or Drive | |
| Julius AI Pro | 45/mo, about 37/mo yearly | Unlimited messages | "Pro models" | Adds live database connectors (Postgres, Snowflake, BigQuery and others) | Adds notebooks for repeat analysis |
| ChatGPT Plus (OpenAI) | $20/mo | Usage limits set by OpenAI | OpenAI models only | File upload | Files and charts from code |
| Claude Pro (Anthropic) | 20/mo, 17/mo yearly | Rolling usage limits | Claude models only | File upload, connectors | Creates and edits files with code execution |

Mostly price and the message cap. Julius is a focused, well-built data tool, but at $35 a month the Plus plan costs more than ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro, and it stops at 250 messages. Data work is chatty: you ask for a pivot, notice a bad date column, ask for a fix, then ask for the chart again. Twenty back-and-forths on one messy export is normal, so 250 can go quickly in a busy month.
The other reason is that analysis is rarely the last step. After the numbers, you usually need a summary for your manager, a cleaned workbook for finance, or a few slides. Julius is built for the analysis. A general assistant with a sandbox can do the analysis and then write the memo or the deck in the same conversation.
If you already pay for ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro, try the one you have first. Both can open a CSV, run code and draw a chart, and for one file a week that may be all you need.
Zemith is the better pick when you want more than one model on the same data, or when the analysis has to end in a file. Its file tools run in a cloud sandbox with Python, pandas, matplotlib, openpyxl and LibreOffice. When you attach a spreadsheet, the assistant loads it in the sandbox, writes and runs the code, and puts anything it produces (a chart, a cleaned CSV, a formatted .xlsx) in the chat's Files panel, where you can preview it before downloading. Zemith's spreadsheet skill tells the model to deliver workbooks with no formula errors and to keep an uploaded template's formatting when it edits one.
You can also hand the same data to a different model mid-chat. Ask Claude 5.5 Sonnet to build the analysis, then switch to Gemini 3.1 Pro and ask it to check the method. That second opinion costs one more message, not another subscription. The Zemith for data analysts page covers the rest of the analyst workflow.
Say you have a year of order exports from your shop and want to know which products lose money after refunds.
orders-2026.csv and refunds-2026.xlsx.Join the two files on order ID. For each product, show revenue, refunds and net revenue by month. Flag any product where refunds are above 15% of revenue in two or more months. Chart net revenue for the top ten products. Put the clean joined data and the summary table in one Excel file with a sheet each.
refund-analysis.xlsx appear in the Files panel. It's worth adding "tell me about rows that don't match" to the prompt, so refunds with no order don't vanish silently. If your workbooks live in OneDrive, connect the Microsoft Excel plugin and Zemith can open a workbook from there, analyse or edit it in the sandbox, and save the result back. Saving a new workbook asks for your approval first (you can choose "Always allow" for that), and replacing an existing workbook always asks.
Zemith doesn't count messages. It charges credits for the tokens a model reads and writes, plus sandbox running time, and Plus includes 1.5 million credits a month. The rates are published in Zemith's model list, so you can work it out.
Here's a heavy analysis turn, assuming the model reads 20,000 tokens of context, file preview and code output, writes 2,000 tokens, and the sandbox runs for two minutes:
| Model on Plus | Reading (20,000 tokens) | Writing (2,000 tokens) | Sandbox (2 minutes) | Total per turn | Turns per 1.5M credits |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Claude 5.5 Sonnet | 9,200 | 4,520 | about 330 | about 14,050 | about 105 |
| Claude 4.5 Haiku | 4,000 | 1,920 | about 330 | about 6,250 | about 240 |
Rates as of October 2026: Claude 5.5 Sonnet is 46 credits per 100 input tokens and 226 per 100 output tokens; Claude 4.5 Haiku is 20 and 96. Sandbox time is 9,960 credits per running hour, with a one-minute minimum per session.
So on the strongest Plus model, heavy turns cost more each than a Julius message, and quick questions cost much less. Context that's already been read is billed at a lower cached rate (5 credits per 100 tokens on Claude 5.5 Sonnet), so follow-ups in the same chat usually cost less than the first turn. If you run out, top-ups start at $10 for 800,000 credits. We haven't run a benchmark of real analysis sessions, so treat the table as arithmetic from the published rates, not a measurement.
Zemith's sandbox and file tools need a paid plan and a tool-capable model. The Free plan is chat only. For a broader look at the topic, see our guide on how to analyze data with AI.
We read Claude's pricing page on October 3, 2026. Julius's and OpenAI's pricing pages blocked automated access that day, so their prices come from the third-party pages linked under the table; the two Julius sources agree on prices and message limits. Zemith's capabilities, file size limit and credit rates come from its product code and pricing page on the same day. We didn't run timed or accuracy benchmarks on any tool.
Julius AI is a good data tool, and Julius Pro is the right call if you query live databases. For most people searching for a Julius AI alternative, though, the job is a CSV or Excel file that needs answers, charts and a clean workbook, followed by something written for someone else. Zemith Plus does all of that in one chat for $15.99 a month, with Claude, Gemini and the other top models on the same data. That's the alternative we'd pick.
